Virtual CPLD & Networking Events

Across the academic year we host a number of virtual CPLD and networking events (as part of the EfL LearningShared CPLD Programme) that offer a deep dive into key areas of SEND and inclusion.

The focus of these events is to connect like minded colleagues who share a passion for a particular area of SEND and inclusion. Leading experts from across the sector lead the sessions sharing national insights and provocations for us to explore and reflect on as a community. In addition, Exceptional leaders and practitioners from across the community share innovative practice and case studies in the form of lightning talks and contributions to panel discussions.

EfL LearningShared Virtual CPLD & Networking Event

Date: Tue 10th Mar 2026
Time: 3:45pm
Duration: 1hr 15min

With the release of the Schools White Paper and further consultation on SEND this virtual event provides a space to reflect on the paper, key reforms / policy changes and what they might mean for us as school, Trust and system leaders – more importantly to consider how we can turn policy into provision and practice that leads to aspirational opportunities and outcomes for all learners regardless of their needs and starting points.

  • Hear from colleagues who have been at the heart of conversations leading to the reforms and look forward to their perspectives and interpretations on key recommendations.
  • School and Trust leaders share their thoughts as to what the white paper means for them and how they plan to respond and implement any shift in policy and reform.
  • There will be opportunities throughout to connect with other colleagues, ask questions and share your own views.

Panellists include:

James Waller (Sunningdale School & EQUALS)
Simon Knight (Frank Wise School & DfE SEND & Inclusion EAG)
Margaret Mulholland (ASCL)
Benedict Coffin (DfE, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, National System Division)
Katherine Walsh (River Learning Trust & CST)
Cheryl Gaughan (JMAT & EQUALS)
Cathryn Falconer (Danecourt School & Maritime Academy Trust)
Matthew Rooney (St Giles School & Ofsted Inspector)

As with all our events there will be opportunities through breakout space conversations to share your views and build your own professional networks throughout, as well as interact with our panellists in Q&A sessions.

A unique and early opportunity to come together to digest what are potentially the biggest changes to the education system and policy in a generation.

 AI – Opportunities and Risks

Date: Thurs 27th Nov 2026
Time: 3:45pm
Duration: 1hr 15min

Whether we like it or not AI has slowly creeped into our daily lives in recent years and will undoubtedly have a huge impact on our learners moving forward.

Beyond the more common use of bots and search engines like ChatGPT there are significant opportunities and risks for leaders to consider. The potential to reduce workload and train our workforce could be transformational for the profession whilst accessibility features for the most
vulnerable of learners is unquestionably exciting.

On the flip side do we risk deskilling practitioners and losing the craft of teaching and having young people retreat even further into a digital online world?

In this session through panel discussions, lightning talk input and open debate we explore innovative and successful approaches to AI and what future government policy might mean for us.

Responsive Webinars

Each year, we host a number of responsive webinars across to collectively reflect and respond to key issues and national reform.

With the schools white paper and recent policy changes, as well as changes to accountability already with us, these webinars offer an opportunity to explore together what the changes mean for us whilst also providing an opportunity to respond collectively – together we are stronger!
