Working with Families: Exploring, sharing and discussing effective partnership and practice: March 24th (3:45pm – 5pm)

A cornerstone of the recently released DfE white paper is the expectations of how schools will effectively work with families. Defining what effective partnerships between home and school look like will be a focus of the reforms laying out what families can and should expect from schools and also what professionals can expect in return.

Lightning talks and panel discussions will explore the work that Schools and Trusts are already doing in this space to harness the unique expertise and lived experience of families and to ensure that genuine co production is something that sits at the heart of every aspect of school life as opposed to being just another buzz word.

Our session features contributions from schools as well as family members with authentic lived experience and also provides an opportunity to connect and share practice with other leaders and practitioners in breakout spaces.

Creating Positive Transitions for our Learners: May 7th (3:45pm – 5pm)

As we enter into the summer term our work around transitions and ensuring learners are best prepared begins to ramp up significantly. Whether its moving between year groups or key stages, primary to secondary, ARP to main school or transitioning into college or the workplace we know that this can be a period of great anxiety for young people and their families.

In this session through lightning talk inputs and panel discussions we will explore the work of mainstream and specialist school / college leaders about innovative approaches to transition and the strategies / approaches they employ to ensure young people and families not only enjoy a positive experience but are ready to thrive in their next steps.

Our conversations include contributions from learners and families sharing their authentic lived experience and as always there will be opportunities to network, connect and share practice with other leaders and practitioners in breakout spaces.

If you’d like to attend, please register in advance using the link below. You will then receive your unique URL / invitation to join the meeting on 7th May.

Schools White Paper / SEND Reforms Consultation: Responding as a community: May 13th (3:45pm – 5pm)

With the white paper SEND consultation closing on May 18th our virtual event provides the opportunity and space to come together with leaders from across the system to explore key themes and share perspectives on how we might best move forward with the reforms.

Through panel discussions and lightning talk inputs we’ll hear the views and ideas from cross-sector experts and also have the opportunity in smaller breakout rooms to take a deeper dive into the areas that are most important to us as a school / setting / college.

Many of you will be responding to the 39 questions about national standards. EHC Plans, funding and accountability etc individually / as a school, college or Trust and so we hope this event will help to crystallise your thinking and also with the EfL community representing over 1,200 specialist and mainstream settings (including over 90% of specialist schools, colleges and APs) we hope you’ll be part of what we think is a very powerful collective voice.

If you’d like to attend, please register in advance using the link below. You will then receive your unique URL / invitation to join the meeting on 13th May.
